Bernadette Foley is one of the most connected people in the publishing industry, working as an editor and publisher for over 30 years. She was publisher of fiction and non-fiction for international publishing house Hachette Australia for more than10 years, editing such authors as William McInnes, Pamela Freeman, Lian Hearn and many more.
In 2016, Bernadette set up Broadcast Books, and works closely with writers, helping them to develop their skills and tell their stories. With a small team of publishing professionals, Bernadette produces books for authors who choose to publish independently.
Through programs at the Australian Writers' Centre, Bernadette has guided many manuscripts to publication. She has spoken at national writers’ festivals and editing and writing events. She co-created and taught in the Graduate Certificate in Editing and Publishing at University of Technology Sydney and in taught in the post-graduate publishing course at the University of Sydney. In 2015, Bernadette received the George Robertson Award for Service to the Australian Publishing Industry.
